Video about over-protection of Congressmen by the Nationaljournal.com

In the wake of the tragic Arizona shooting that took place on January 8, 2011, there seems to a rush by lawmakers insisting on more protection for themselves. This in itself, shows the huge disconnect between lawmakers and their constituents. This also illustrates how many in Congress consider themselves “special people” that should be afforded special protection from the common folks.

The huge chasm Congress has placed between themselves and constituents reveal the true problem in Washington, DC. The elite-mentality that Congresspeople extrude continues to alienate and divide Americans, as Congress continues to ignore the will of most Americans. The continued rhetoric from Congress that “the people just don’t understand” perpetuates this elitist attitude towards Americans.

This is not a condition restricted to any particular side of the political spectrum. It comes from the likes of Nancy Pelosi, Barak Obama, George Bush, Bill Clinton, John McCain, etc.. When Americans are told repeatedly “it’s for your own good” and continue to ignore the people, while instituting expensive and overly bureaucratic remedies for the problems created with their expensive and overly bureaucratic remedies of some other perceived problem, then the electorate becomes irrelevant. The feeling in the air is that people have lost their voice in government, when in fact, our government in America is “for the people, by the people”.

To further the example of lawmakers demonstrating their superiority complex over their constituents, the calls for additional security spending measures and increased gun laws have increased since the Arizona shooting.

Rep. Peter King (R-N.Y.), one of the few pro-gun control Republicans in the House, wants to make it illegal for someone to knowingly carry a gun within 1,000 feet of certain high-ranking federal officials, including members of Congress.

Rep. Jesse Jackson wants that money restored, plus 10 percent, in order to augment security in the Capitol and in districts, where he said some lawmakers may need to hire security for constituent events and install surveillance cameras in their district offices.
Rep. Dan Burton, R-Ind., renewed his call for the installation of an impenetrable, see-through security shield around the viewing gallery overlooking the House floor. Burton points out that, while guns and some bombs would be picked up by metal detectors, a saboteur could get into the Capitol concealing plastic explosives.

Democratic Rep. John Lewis of Atlanta said he thought local law enforcement officials could be called in to help with security when members have public events…
Rep. David Scott, also an Atlanta Democrat, said he thought members of Congress should have a dedicated security person on their staff…

Rep. Raul Grijalva (D-AZ) is calling on US Capitol Police to enhance security for all members of Congress.

Sen. Joseph I. Lieberman (I-Conn.) is expected to introduce legislation next month to bolster the agency’s budget and staff…

Rep. Doug Lamborn (R-Colo.) said he intends to ask local authorities to provide additional security…
Rep. James Clyburn (D-S.C.) made the comments on Fox News Sunday, where he also called for special treatment for members by the Transportation Security Administration…

However, as Congress and the Federal Government have consistently shown, the continued piling up of new laws and regulations is generally the result of fixing a perceived problem they created in the first place with their continued onerous and numerous laws and regulations that the American taxpayers are forced to pay for.

These special people are rightfully afforded potection at all Federal buildings, including courthouses in the U.S. In typical character with typical inefficient government bureaucracy, those security measures have even become problematic.

A November watchdog report raised concerns about security at federal court facilities, detailing the poor training, questionable contracts and broken security equipment used by many contract security guards employed by the Marshals service.

The fact is, when an American takes on the job of becoming an elected offical, they have accepted the increased risks of becoming a public figure, including security. So the botton-line is,  if you cannot accept the risk, then get out of the house. Congressman are no more special than any other Americans and until that attitude is eliminated, their irrelevance will continue to decrease, and in turn, they will not receive the respect that a lawmaker should be afforded.

Barak Obama, the epitome of progressivism, wants the donkey bray to go away-for now. Any claim of a political ideology shift is disingenuous at best. So what is the motivation behind appointing another Wall Street “fat cat” to his staff?

  • Returning a favor to Wall Street for helping him finance his presidential run?
  • Returning a favor to Richard Daley for somehow managing to ensure Rahm Emanuel will become Chicago’s next mayor?
  • Currying favor with the elitist Republicans who afford Wall Street full access to our political system, that by the way, you and I do not have?
  • Just throwing more crap against the wall to see what sticks?
  • Really doesn’t have a clue and is just following orders?
  • Trying to trick the Neo-conservatives into thinking he’s become pro business so they will support his 2012 re-election bid?
  • Trying to trick the independent, right-leaning voters into thinking that he’s fully supportive of the free markets as to garner their suppoprt for his 2012 re-election bid?
  • Wants to encourage an increase in financial campaign support from the investment/banking industries for 2012?
  • Win the backing of the US Chamber of Commerce, who has been a thorn in side since he took office?
  • Knowing that his rabid progressive base, that makes up approximately 20% of the electorate, won’t abandon him no matter what political decisions he makes? Listen to all the criticism coming from his Wall-Street-hating supporters. – Progressive’s Criticism of Daley Pick
  • His decision is disingenuous, at best, and he knows that a gullible electorate may come to view him as a centrist in his run-up to 2012?

So which one(s) do you choose? I choose all of the above. Whoever runs this political puppet show in Washington knows that Obama has tanked and Americans put up an unavoidable red light in the 2010 mid-terms to bring his screaming progressive train to a screeching halt.

The donkey only muted his bray so the American electorate will, hopefully for him, forget the progressive track has run out as they approach the edge of the cliff that America is about to be thrust over. Progressives are apparently still selling tickets for that train ride and they know it’s a ruse that may cause some short-term discomfort in their battle to turn America into another European-style socialist nightmare.

So with the Daley appointment, this is what you got:

  • A staunch opponent of any effective financial reforms of the banking/financial industry
  • Banking lobbyist
  • Another re-cycled wealthy Clintonite elitist
  • Major player in getting NAFTA passed – remember the flushing sound of American jobs
  • Key executive of a Wall Street firm that received your taxpayer dollars in the bail-out
  • Chicago-based politico who will obvious continue the Obama tradition of injecting Chicago-style thugocracy into Washington politics
  • Further morphing our Federal Government into Corporatism
  • A staunch supporter of Dr. Global Warming, Mr. Internet, Al Gore.

No matter how hard these Progressive/Socialist try, they’re not getting the cat back in the bag. In fact, this is a great opportunity to further identify those, fraudulently professing conservatism, who are playing this game with Obama, thinking that everyone will embrace this fake centrist head-fake.

The people have caught on to the game and the result would be no different then if you had appointed Andy Stern as Chief of Staff and Reverend Wright as Whitehouse spokesman. Fortunately, the majority of Americans will stand at the edge of the proverbial cliff, let the American people off the train, and then let you and your minions continue over that cliff alone. We appreciate your handlers making it much easier to throw you and your progressive dolts out of the “Peoples House” come November 2012. Cya.

Reported by the AP on Yahoo news: BofA settlement with Fannie, Freddie “clears air”

Two Questions on this story: 1. Why does our government refuse to prosecute the massive fraud committed against the American people and our governments by the banking, finance, and investment industries? 2. Is the settlement money really just another tax imposed on Americans, seeing that the government allows the fraud to occur against the American people then only requires the criminals to pay some paltry sum of money that the defrauded citizen never sees.

Reported by Bloomberg, Obama may name William Daley to top job

Three questions on this story: 1. Why are the liberals and progressives not up-in-arms about Obama continuing to get in bed with the “Wall Street Bankers” that they so often demonize? 2. Are you kidding me? Former Chicago Mayor Rich Daley’s brother, who is another Clintonite, Chicago-connected, Wall Street insider? 3. Have you not figured out the game of American politics is rigged?

Our government is owned and controlled by the Federal Reserve and monied interests. It’s time to shed some sunshine on this perpetual fraud committed by this pack of black-backed jackals. If you didn’t know, these creatures take down large victims (government) by hunting in large groups, but also tend to prey on the weak, vulnerable and defenseless (American citizen).

Scott Walker, Wisconsin Governor-elect, is leading his state in the fight to confront and effectively reduce the costs that state employee unions cost the taxpayer. As reported by The New York Times, many states are going on the offensive to reduce the power of, if not eliminate, taxpayer supported state employee unions.

This was one of the mandates thrust upon the new state governments as the electorate voted in favor of fiscal conservatism rather than reckless progressive spending. As states approach insolvency, there will be desperate measures to cut spending and state employee unions’ salaries and their underfunded pensions are a target. They are an enormous drag on states’ finances and, in fact, Wisconsin Governor-elect, Scott Walker, would prefer to eliminate state employee unions all together. Here is a good article from the Milwaukee.Wisconsin Journal Sentinel regarding Scott’s feelings about and efforts to curb the power of Wisconsin’s state employee unions. If you don’t think these unions feel entitled to their priveledged union positions, read through some of the 800+ comments on the article. They will be the cause for major strife and unrest in America as more state governments seek to reduce labor unions’ power over the taxpayer by sending the budget axe their way.

To finish on an even better note, the labor union leaders’ quotes from this New York Times article are classic:

“I see this as payback for the role we played in the 2010 elections,” said Gerald W. McEntee, president of the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees, the main union of state employees. Mr. McEntee said in October that his union was spending more than $90 million on the campaign, largely to help Democrats.

Naomi Walker, the A.F.L.-C.I.O.’s director of state government relations, said many voters would oppose the antiunion efforts. “I think folks in these states are going to ask whether this is the right time to weaken unions when corporations are amassing more power than ever,” she said. “We’ve been fighting against privatizing Social Security and sending jobs offshore and to get the best deal for the unemployed. It would be a lot easier for Republicans if unions weren’t there to throw up these roadblocks.”

“They’re throwing the kitchen sink at us,” said Randi Weingarten, president of the American Federation of Teachers. “We’re seeing people use the budget crisis to make every attempt to roll back workers’ voices and any ability of workers to join collectively in any way whatsoever.”

It’s time to feel the pain that your corrupt employee unions helped create.
