We have already discussed this bill here on TLJ but I wanted to expand on the topic. Gun registration is always the first step toward a total ban of firearms. It is registration, then confiscation. This exact pattern has already occurred through the world. It has happened in the UK, in Australia, in Europe and in China. Remember, criminals do not turn in their weapons. They have no respect for the rule of law. Let me be clear, this bill has nothing to do with keeping guns out of the hands of criminals, it is designed to keep guns out of the hands law abiding American citizens, period. There is actually proof that arming the citizens will have the most dramatic effect on decreasing crime and criminal activity.

In March 1982, 25 years ago, the small town of Kennesaw – responding to a handgun ban in Morton Grove, Ill. – unanimously passed an ordinance requiring each head of household to own and maintain a gun. Since then, despite dire predictions of "Wild West" showdowns and increased violence and accidents, not a single resident has been involved in a fatal shooting – as a victim, attacker or defender. The crime rate initially plummeted for several years after the passage of the ordinance, with the 2005 per capita crime rate actually significantly lower than it was in 1981, the year before passage of the law. Prior to enactment of the law, Kennesaw had a population of just 5,242 but a crime rate significantly higher (4,332 per 100,000) than the national average (3,899 per 100,000). The latest statistics available – for the year 2005 – show the rate at 2,027 per 100,000. Meanwhile, the population has skyrocketed to 28,189. By comparison, the population of Morton Grove, the first city in Illinois to adopt a gun ban for anyone other than police officers, has actually dropped slightly and stands at 22,202, according to 2005 statistics. More significantly, perhaps, the city’s crime rate increased by 15.7 percent immediately after the gun ban, even though the overall crime rate in Cook County rose only 3 percent. Today, by comparison, the township’s crime rate stands at 2,268 per 100,000. This was not what some predicted. link

Consider this.. If you were a criminal, would you choose a town where you knew everyone was well protected, or would you choose a town where you knew no one was protected? It doesn’t take a genius to figure this out folks!! Anyone who thinks gun control is a good idea, consider this..

In 1929, the Soviet Union established complete gun control. From 1929 to 1953, approximately 20 million dissidents, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated. In 1911, Turkey established gun control. From 1915 to 1917 15 million Armenians, unable to defend themselves, were also rounded up and exterminated. HITLER established gun control Complete registration followed by complete confiscation) in 1935 and from 1939 to 1945, 13 million Jews, Gypsies, homosexuals, mentally ill, and others, who were unable to defend themselves were rounded up and exterminated. You saw the pictures and know the story! China established gun control in 1935 too. From 1948 to 1952, 20 million political dissidents, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated. Guatamala established gun control in 1964. From 1964 to 1981, 100,000 Mayan Indians, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated. Uganda established gun control in 1970. From 1970 to 1979, 300,000 Christians, who were now unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated. Cambodia established gun control in 1956. From 1975 to 1977, One million "educated" people, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated. That places total number of victims who lost their lives because of "Gun Control" at about 56 million in the last century. Gun owners in Australia were forced by new law to surrender 640,381 personal firearms to be destroyed by their own Government, a program costing Australia taxpayers more than $500 million dollars. The first year results are now in: Australia-wide, homicides are up 3.2 percent. Australia-wide, assaults are up 8.6 percent. Australia-wide, armed robberies are up 44 percent. In the state of Victoria, homicides with firearms are now up 300 percent.

In Australia, law-abiding citizens turned in their guns, the criminals did not.

I noticed on the opencongress.org that this bill has no chance at becoming law.  However, that's besides the point.  Congressman Rush, representing Chicago's Southside, is still a threat to American freedom and liberty.  Why don't we let Mr. Rush implement this bill in his own district for a trial run for a year and then see how he likes it.  Could you imagine Chicago's Southside with a gun ban. LOL.

• In 1968, went AWOL from the U.S. Army
• Co-founder of the Illinois branch of the Black Panther Party
• In 1969, served six months in jail for an illegal weapons conviction
• Advocates reparations for African Americans

Do I even need to evaluate each of these points? Well I guess we can put it into one sentence: 

Mr. Rush, a progressive democrat and former Black Panther, who went AWOL from the Army, seeks reparations for Black Americans while trying to strip gun owners in America of their right to possess firearms. That's going fly.  Is he trying to start a race war? Geez

I think Mr. Rush should be nominated as "AN ENEMY OF THE STATE".
