If this is as good as we can get for GOP Presidential contenders, there’s no need to run against Obama. Newt likes a government mandated or a bond-posting health care system (which acts as a mandate). As shown in this video clip by CNS News, Newt supports government overseen health care now as much as he did in 1993.

It doesn’t get any better with the choice of neo-Newt’s neo-twin, Mitt Romney, architect of the individual health insurance mandate know as Romney-care.

If this is what we have to keep looking forward to by the Neo-con dominated GOP, then the Corrupter-in-chief, Obama, will cruise to victory in 2012.

House Republicans said Thursday that the health care overhaul will expand IRS authority by giving agents the power to verify acceptable health care coverage and fine or confiscate the tax refunds of Americans without coverage.

Republican members of the House Ways and Means Committee, a panel that oversees taxes and health issues, also charged that IRS audits will likely increase if health care legislation is passed. They added the IRS will require up to $10 billion to administer the new program. They also claimed the IRS may need to hire 16,500 additional employees.

“This dangerously expands IRS authority,” said Representative David Camp, (R., Mich.), the ranking Republican on the Committee on Ways and Means. “Most Americans will find it shocking and troubling.”

Rep. Charles Boustany (R., La.) led the investigation into the effect of the health care legislation on IRS authority. “This is a vast expanse of power that the American people need to know about,” he said. link

The Federal government will add 16,500 new IRS agents at a cost of 10 Billion dollars to enforce the new health insurance mandate. This is an unprecedented expansion of power and control, especially considering that the central government has no authority under the constitution to force anyone to purchase anything.

The crippling new taxes and fines that will be heaped on small businesses is a mammoth job killer. This will make America even less competitive than we are now, giving China and India even more of an upper hand. I don’t see how any person or politician could support this legislation unless they are actively seeking to bankrupt and destroy this country.

Obama said he was going to “fundamentally transform” this country, but into what is the question. I think Glenn Beck has it right. The progressives are trying to bring down the system in a effort to transform our country into a European socialist system. A system where there is no incentive for individual achievement and everyone is enslaved to mediocrity under a collectivist ideology.

This is the worst administration and worst president since FDR.

Health Insurance Reform Does Nothing To Control Health Care Costs

There are no provisions in the current insurance reform bill to address the rising cost of health care. This bill is simply a massive entitlement program that extends health insurance (not health care) to millions of citizens who currently do not have insurance, for whatever reason. The legislation does not address the extreme high cost of actual health care, such as charging $20 for an aspirin, controlling waste, fraud and abuse, nor does it eliminate defensive medicine, which results in needless and overpriced tests and procedures. There are no provisions to allow insurance companies to compete across state lines, which would bring real competition into the system and drive down prices.

Instituting Massive New Taxes and Dubious Accounting Gimmicks To Claim Deficit Reduction

The legislation will cost an estimated 1 trillion dollars in the first 10 years. Certainly, taxes can be increased to help cover the first 10 years of new costs associated with extending health insurance to millions of uninsured individuals. $500 billion in new taxes are included in this bill. Here is a list of just a few of these new taxes.

* Tax on high-end health insurance plans: $149.1 billion (with carved out exemptions for most union members)
* Capping flexible spending accounts at $2,500: $14.6 billion
* Fees for drug makers: $22.2 billion
* Fees for medical device makers: $19.3 billion
* Fees for health insurance companies: $60.4 billion
* Higher floor for deducting medical expenses: $15.2 billion
* Higher payroll tax for top earners: $53.8 billion
* Tax on cosmetic surgery: $5.8 billion

Of course, this actually increases the cost of medical care, which is fiscal insanity. All of these fees will result in higher medical costs and those costs will be passed on to the insurance policy holders.

The other $500 billion will come from cuts and savings in Medicare, which is suppose to extend the life of Medicare. However, the $500 billion will be spent to extend health insurance to millions of non-insured under this new bill. You cannot spend the same money twice but that is what Obama and the proponents of this legislation are saying. This is about as intellectually dishonest as it gets. It’s an out and out lie to claim this will extend the life of Medicare when it will have just the opposite affect.

Another gimmick in this bill is that the taxes will be collected for 10 years but the benefits will kick in only in the last 6 years. So, you’re collecting 10 years of taxes to pay for 6 years of benefits, concealing the true cost of the bill over a 10 year period. Under this kind of dubious accounting, it is intellectually dishonest to claim this bill will reduce the deficit.

The $300 billion dollar so called “Doctor Fix” is not even included in this legislation, which if added to the bill, would result in a overall increase in the deficit. The only reason it was left out of the bill is so they could get it scored by the CBO to show a decrease in the deficit. Again, a very intellectually dishonest maneuver.

All Citizens Forced To Purchase A Government Approved Level Of Insurance Under An Individual Mandate

This is one of the most disturbing elements of the bill. There is no provision under the constitution which allows the government to force citizens to purchase anything. The proponents of this legislation point to auto insurance as a model. However, driving a vehicle is a privilege. Unlike a heath insurance mandate, no one is forced to purchase and drive a vehicle so no one is forced to purchase “liability” insurance.

The bill contains provisions which allow the IRS to come after your property if you choose not to purchase government mandated insurance. You can be fined, your property can be seized and you can be tossed in jail if you do not comply. Is this the America you want to live in? Some people believe doctors are mere pawns of big pharma and much of the so called “medicine” being dolled out causes more health complications than it does to fix medical conditions it is intended to cure. Those people should not be forced to participate in an insurance and medical system in which they have no confidence.

If the government can force citizens to purchase a commodity or service, we will find ourselves on a very slippery slope which will allow the government to force us to purchase anything they deem necessary for the collective. This is not a principle on which this country was founded and I hope the citizens will stand up and oppose this assault on our liberty, our freedom and our constitution.

Health Insurance Is Not A Fundamental Right

The government does not extend rights. We are born with inalienable rights, including the right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. Housing is not a right. Food and clothing is not a right. A job is not a right. Health insurance is not a right. If any person would like housing, food, clothing or heath insurance, it is up to the individual to purchase those things. We have the right to pursue happiness but that doesn’t mean we will all be happy. We are all created equal but that doesn’t mean we will all end up equal. That is a fantasy of Communist Utopians.

Obama Care Is A Naked Redistribution Of Wealth

The goal of the proposed insurance reform bill is to extend health insurance coverage to all individuals living in the United States. The only way for this to be achieved is to force younger, healthier individuals into an insurance pool. The premiums on the younger/healthier individuals will be increased to unfair levels in order to cover the increasing number of sick and elderly, including those with preexisting conditions. This is pure redistribution of monies from one group to another, with no regard for the skyrocketing cost of health care. Forcing an insurance company to cover those with preexisting conditions is NOT insurance. A good analogy is that if my house burns down today, I would still be able to take out fire insurance tomorrow, so as to cover my home’s preexisting condition (burnt to the ground).

Obama care would transform insurance companies into government subsidized and controlled 3rd party payer systems, which have nothing to do with actual insurance. It will be a system whereby a private entity will be administering a new government entitlement system. Many citizens see this as much worse than a single payer system due to the profit being made by the insurance companies and some politicians on the left oppose this legislation for those exact reasons. However, it will be convenient for politicians to blame the insurance companies when the rationing, we all know is coming, ratchets up.

To sum up, this health insurance reform legislation will not lower costs. At great monetary costs, through back room deals, bribes and political payoffs, and at the expense of individual liberty, it will cover more people. It amounts to forced charity, through a government mandated redistribution of wealth, which in reality, is not charity all. Far from it, actually.

We should abandon this exceedingly flawed and unconstitutional legislation in favor of true reform that doesn’t abandon free market capitalism and the principles on which this nation was founded. If our non-representing representatives insist on forcing this legislation onto the citizenry, we should make them pay dearly at the ballot box and do everything in our power to repeal the legislation and elect representatives who actually listen to, and actually represent their constituents.

One of the most disturbing developments that has arisen out of the health care debate is how everyone appears to be on-board with the idea that insurance companies must now cover anyone with a pre-existing condition. What is being downplayed, or forgotten, is the fact that all citizens must be forced into purchasing health insurance if we require insurance companies to cover pre-existing conditions. These two choices are not mutually exclusive. You simply can’t have one without the other and maintain a viable insurance system.

So, what’s the problem you ask? Well, aside from the obvious financial issues, requiring every U.S. citizen to purchase health insurance, or anything else for that matter, is unconstitutional on it’s face. The argument that everyone must carry liability insurance on their vehicles doesn’t hold water. I have a choice as to whether or not I choose to purchase a vehicle.  Many choose not to own a vehicle and those people are not required to carry insurance. This is the key difference. No one will have any choice in the matter of health insurance. All citizens would be required to purchase health insurance or have the I.R.S. come after their property, or worse yet, toss them in prison.

Where are the so called “conservatives” on this issue? Well, most of the GOP are on-board with these mandates, although they don’t use those words. They simply parrot the “cover pre-existing conditions” mantra while ignoring the other side of the equation, individual mandates.

If you want to understand why independents, libertarians and conservatives are running away from the GOP, look no further than this single pivot point in the health care debate. Those who still believe in liberty, freedom and personal responsibility are outraged by the idea of individual mandates. We see these mandates for what they really are, an attempt to control every aspect of our lives. It can be argued that every action we take can affect one’s heath and armed with these arguments, those who seek control will have a huge stick with which to force the citizenry into conformity, so as to benefit the collective.

I would suggest that before anyone jumps on the “pre-existing conditions”  bandwagon, they consider the other side of the equation, which is individual mandates. Consider carefully what this actually means to your liberty and your freedom. Take a close look at all politicians who are supporting these mandates, especially those holding themselves up as conservatives.

The neocons are still on the march.

The Obama administration is sending out its henchmen to disrupt the townhalls and intimidate citizens who oppose the current health reforms on the table.

Thugs from SEIU, ACORN and LaRAZA are now crowding out concerned citizens at these events,  as Obama calls in reinforcements.

To help push back, HCAN — whose members include ACORN, or the Association of Community Organizers for Reform Now, the AFL-CIO, the Service Employees International Union, the National Education Association and the National Council of La Raza — issued some instructions of their own. The memo, e-mailed Tuesday to HCAN’s 120 field staffers in 44 states, encourages activists to contact elected officials before public events to plan ways to pre-empt the opposition.

“Ask the Member’s staff what would be most helpful and talk through a strategy for making sure the right messages don’t get drowned out by chaotic protesters,” field director Margarida Jorge advised. The memo’s introduction says she has “years of union organizing experience” and has “laid out tactics for people attending town halls to follow to blunt the right.”

Another one of Ms. Jorge’s tips is to “Address the [member of Congress] directly with a positive message: Remember, these Members need cover and they are getting beaten up by right wing zealots in these meetings.” link

The intimidation continues with the Whitehouse issuing a call for citizens to report individuals or websites who oppose the current health care reform bill.

There is a lot of disinformation about health insurance reform out there, spanning from control of personal finances to end of life care. These rumors often travel just below the surface via chain emails or through casual conversation. Since we can’t keep track of all of them here at the White House, we’re asking for your help. If you get an email or see something on the web about health insurance reform that seems fishy, send it to flag@whitehouse.gov. link

Notice that the Whitehouse is asking that citizens who simply engage in “casual conversation” be reported. This is clearly an effort by the administration to create a enemies list and chill any dissent.

Far left columnist Paul Krugmen of the NYT has even trotted out the tired old racist argument, suggesting that citizens oppose Obama’s health care agenda because of the color of his skin.

The driving force behind the town hall mobs is probably the same cultural and racial anxiety that’s behind the “birther” movement, which denies Mr. Obama’s citizenship. Senator Dick Durbin has suggested that the birthers and the health care protesters are one and the same; we don’t know how many of the protesters are birthers, but it wouldn’t be surprising if it’s a substantial fraction.

And cynical political operators are exploiting that anxiety to further the economic interests of their backers.

Does this sound familiar? It should: it’s a strategy that has played a central role in American politics ever since Richard Nixon realized that he could advance Republican fortunes by appealing to the racial fears of working-class whites.

Many people hoped that last year’s election would mark the end of the “angry white voter” era in America. Indeed, voters who can be swayed by appeals to cultural and racial fear are a declining share of the electorate. link

The administration and its far left supporters have sank to a new low with these tactics and attacks. I do not believe opponents of Obama’s health care agenda will be intimidated. I certainly hope they won’t be. The issue is too important to American citizens, especially the elderly, who don’t want to see their health care system be taken over by an incompetent and corrupt government.

On Friday, Democrats moved one step closer to giving free health insurance to the nation’s estimated 12 million illegal aliens when they successfully defeated a Republican-backed amendment, offered by Rep. Dean Heller, R-Nev., that would have prevented illegal aliens from receiving government-subsidized health care under the proposed plan backed by House Democrats and President Barack Obama.

The House Ways and Means Committee nixed the Heller amendment by a 26-to-15 vote along straight party lines, and followed this action by passing the 1,018-page bill early Friday morning by a 23-to-18 margin, with three Democrats voting against the plan. link

I’m sure covering illegals is exactly the kind of reform “citizens” are looking for.

It’s not hard to imagine a rationed health care system where elderly United States citizens, who have been forced into a public system, are denied coverage, while non-citizens’ needs are provided for at no charge.  Somehow, I don’t think this is the kind of reform most people expect.

Dick Morris suggested recently that giving illegals free health care will lead to a huge influx of new illegals, eager to take advantage of health care benefits not offered in their home countries. I think he makes an excellent point.

One of the ironies of the proposed legislation is that it would fine American citizens who opt not to purchase insurance coverage, but would exempt illegals from such fines. This is presumably due to the fact that they are not supposed to participate in the program anyway.

I guess if you don’t want to participate in the forced public heath care system, you can simply renounce your citizenship, move to Mexico or Canada and sneak back across the border to avoid the fines.

Most uninsured illegals who need medical attention obtain it from hospital emergency rooms. And several states are already straining under the huge burden of paying for the health costs of illegal aliens.

According to the Federation for American Immigration Reform (FAIR), in 2004 California’s estimated cost of unreimbursed medical care was $1.4 billion. Texas estimated its cost at $850 million annually, and Arizona at $400 million.

Perhaps denying all medical benefits to illegals, except for life and death emergency care, would go a long way to solving many of our heath care woes.

Illegal aliens threaten U.S. medical system

The increasing number of illegal aliens coming into the United States is forcing the closure of hospitals, spreading previously vanquished diseases and threatening to destroy America’s prized health-care system, says a report in the spring issue of the Journal of American Physicians and Surgeons.

In addition, the report says, “many illegal aliens harbor fatal diseases that American medicine fought and vanquished long ago, such as drug-resistant tuberculosis, malaria, leprosy, plague, polio, dengue, and Chagas disease.”

84 California hospitals are closing their doors as a direct result of the rising number of illegal aliens and their non-reimbursed tax on the system.

While politicians often mention there are 43 million without health insurance in this country, the report estimates that at least 25 percent of those are illegal immigrants. The figure could be as high as 50 percent.

The Journal of American Physicians and Surgeons report includes a strong prescription for protecting the health of Americans:

* Closing America’s borders with fences, high-tech security devices and troops.
* Rescinding the U.S. citizenship of “anchor babies.”
* Punishing the aiding and abetting of illegal aliens as a crime.
* An end to amnesty programs. link
